You shall know them by their fruits

It appears that Jesus was telling his disciples that they should read the Bible looking for the fruits of every spirit. A good spirit does not produce evil fruit, and an evil spirit does not produce good fruit. Based on that rule, we can conclude that God did not cause the Great Flood, Satan did. God did not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, Satan did.
Psalm 37 says the righteous inherit the land, while the wicked are defeated and destroyed. Israel was defeated and destroyed, twice. They were the wicked. The people who inherited the land were the righteous.
